Green-Breasted Mango
Beloit, Wisconsin

The Green-Breasted Mango is normally found in Central, and South America, although it makes rare appearances in Texas (about a dozen, all since 1987). One was also documented in North Carolina in 2000. When this immature was identified in Beloit, Wisconsin, it became only the second confirmed sighting in the US, outside of Texas, ever!

Karl and Joan Salzberg said the Hummingbird has been coming to their feeder for about a month now, as of September 20th, but was first identified by an experienced birder about a week ago. I made the 210-mile round trip to photograph this once in a lifetime opportunity. A special thanks to the Salzbergs for letting everyone into their yard to see and photograph this rare opportunity.
