Jeff Raflik's Animal Photography
July 24, 2009 - Silver Lake, Eagle River, WI - While photographing a Loon family straight out, just
off shore, two does and a fawn appeared on the shoreline just off to my right.
The next day, after the above pictures, I was photographing the same Loon family, and at one
point, while there was no Loon activity, I randomly turned around to see a buck, two does, and a fawn, casually walking down the center of the road, hardly twenty
feet from me. I went for my camera after they got a little farther away from me, and wandered through several front yards on the other side of the street.
July 29, 2007 - While photographing a couple of rare bird sightings in Horicon
Marsh, from hwy 49, these two coyotes (pups?) appeared at the northern tip of the marsh, and made their way south, toward the highway. Along
the way, they came within just feet of several herons and egrets, but never made an attempt to catch any of them.
October 27, 2006 - A Garter Snake on the auto tour in Horicon Marsh NWR,
possibly looking for its last meal before hibernation.
April 15, 2006 - A deer standing in the river, while taking a drink from it. Combined Locks Municipal Park,
Combined Locks, WI.
May 8, 2005 - While photographing an eagle nest in Appleton, this raccoon transferred four babies from one knothole,
to a higher one.
A baby, waiting for his turn to be transferred, and a shot of the adult a few weeks later.
A couple shots of muskrats from July 2005, and one from April 2006, Horicon Marsh NWR
Chipmunks in a wooded area of Horicon Marsh NWR
May 22, 2005 - A fox den just outside of Beaver Dam. The two
pups were easy to photograph, but when an adult came back, I made a very small noise, and scared it away. I'll try again
soon, now that I know how quiet I need to be.
1-30-05 Three miles South of Waupun, a herd of about 25 deer
are consistantly just off the side of the road every evening. Mostly does, but I spotted the buck, an 8-pointer I think,
just as he was slowly making his way over the hill, looking back once in a while.
1-27-05 Same place, and same herd, as above pictures,
a few days earlier.
July 25, 2003 - European deer at a privately owned game farm in
Upper Michigan. First, a picture of a couple variations of Fallow Deer, and then a couple shots of a Sika Deer.
6-20-04 A whitetail deer near the side of the road in
Marquette County, Wisconsin, and leaping through a field while running away.
